Changing gears is easy with the help of the instrument-panel
mounted gearshift located on the central console of your Sprinter.
Gears are electronically controlled by the lock-up clutch within
the torque converter. The enhanced touchshift function ensures
that you have a better control over your vehicle and enables you
to drive comfortably in any type of traffic conditions.
The Sprinters’ efficient transmission system reduces shift
effort by transmitting shift commands using Bowden cables. You
also have the freedom to manually adjust shift range by adjusting
the selector lever to right of left (+/-). For instance, if you
hold the selector lever at ‘-’ position, transmission ratios keep
reducing until you reach the position that is best suited to slow
down or accelerate your Sprinter. This feature efficiently complements
engine braking and is quite helpful while you are driving your
Sprinter on slopes and inclines.
Transmission electronic control module (ECU) monitors the process
of manually downshifting to reach optimum gear position. Transmission
ECU uses a downshift inhibitor to ensure that the engine does
not over-rev in lower gear positions. The super advanced transmission
ECU keeps the engine of your Sprinter running at optimal fuel
efficiency and power.
